French, Spanish and other Modern Languages.
Most of the commonly studied modern languages follow the same format at A level as French. The specifications are designed to develop your skills in all areas of the language, including speaking and response, listening, reading and writing. They aim to introduce you to the culture and literature of the countries in which the language is spoken, and to equip you with a range of useful vocabulary and grammar.
Modern languages at A level will prepare you well for foreign travel, will enhance your linguistic ability and your employment prospects, and you will provide a good foundation for studying languages at university.
Pre-requisites:
The A level specifications build on what you will have learnt at GCSE, so a level of competence in the language you wish to study is essential. If you are considering studying a language to A Level but have not taken the GCSE you need to consider your aptitude towards languages in general.
