You took all the worry out of the Oxford application process. Thank you for your insight, dedication and enthusiasm in preparing me for my interview.

English Tutor

An English tutor will help develop good English skills, improving literacy, articulation of thought and argument, confidence and analytical skills.

Such talents go beyond the classroom walls; whether presenting to a boardroom or attending the theatre, cogent thought and speech are fundamental to a richly lived life.

Students of A-Level English are expected to read poetry, novels and plays before using their analytical and argumentative skills to write coursework essays and exam papers about the literature. This is one of the main reasons many people are looking to employ an English tutor.

The sophisticated language skills and need to develop a personal and confident voice are not always taught in schools, as the individual confidence can often be drowned out in a classroom. English skills are at the core of most professions and as such a good pass at A-Level or GCSE can be the road to many high powered jobs.

An English tutor will help to coax, question and inspire their pupil towards lucid and insightful arguments, detailed understanding and independent curiosity. A Bright Young Things English tutor will show their pupil how the skills open up the world to them, not just their books. An English tutor is the gateway for many pupils to see, and go, further in life.

English Literature

English Literature will encourage you to read widely in poetry, prose, and drama; it will also encourage you to engage creatively and critically with the texts you encounter. You should not limit your reading to the text prescribed in the specification, but explore other works that complement, illuminate, or indeed contrast with those suggested. You will read Shakespeare, and other literature from a variety of historical contexts; you will learn to think analytically about it, evaluate it, and locate it within its social and historical contexts. It is recommended that you will have achieved at least a C Grade at GCSE in English Literature and English Language if you wish to pursue the subject further. Please be aware that we can teach you this A level, or any part of it, in the time scale which suits you. Whether it be 3 months, or 3 years we will teach you all that is required to get the very highest grade.

We can teach you either at yours or in  our classrooms or online with all the same BYT guarantees.
