SAT Exam Prep:

An SAT Exam Prep. tutor will help develop very good strategies so you can maximise your chances of getting the highest mark in the SAT test.

Not regularly taught in schools, the individuals who need to maximise their SAT Prep scores

can often be side tracked by the exams which the school require them to do.

Above and beyond what the school expect them to do.

SAT Exams are at the forefront of the admissions process for American universities.

Scoring well on the SAT, with good exam prep will mean that the quality of university (or school as they call them in America) is that much higher.

It is hard for English students to know who to turn to when faced with high level of academic work required to study for an exam that most schools and their time tables do not cater for.

Hence why we have launched our BYT SAT exam Preperation service.

American University Applications:

Applying to an American university is a complex and competitive process. The requirements

and deadlines differ from one university to the next. Some require SAT subject exams, some

offer early admissions deadlines, and the materials you submit in your application package

are tailored to each university rather than being part of a UCAS type general submission.

Perfect scores are no longer sufficient to guarantee admission into the most competitive schools.

Top candidates need to have exceptional SAT scores and a solid application package including an

impressive personal statement: how you sell yourself in your application package makes all the

difference.

We cover every aspect of the American university application process. We can discuss your

choice of universities, guide you through applications, tutor you for the SAT, and provide

information on pre-admissions campus visits.

Our tutors have been successful in their own applications to American universities, including the

Ivy League. They bring to the process their experience as students at American universities, and

extensive experience advising clients applying for undergraduate and graduate admissions.

Personal Statements: For American university applications you write a separate personal

statement for each application and these essays should be very well written, heartfelt and

creative. This takes more work than the universal personal statement submitted to UCAS

applications but also provides the opportunity to zero in on more specific reasons for your

application to a certain university. We will help you take advantage of this opportunity.

We do not write the essay for you but we will advise you on what each university looks for

and we can help you decide on the approach that will best represent you and command the

attention of the admissions committee. With our expertise you will be incorporate all of the

factors American admissions committees look for: core values, identity, background, special

interests, goals, qualities and strengths. Once you have a fully structured draft we will guide

you through proofreading and editing for spelling, grammar, punctuation, flow, tone, and

impact.

SAT Exam: The SAT tests your analytical reasoning ability. The best way to prepare for it is to

perform tried and tested drills that increase and strengthen your analytical reasoning skills and

arm you with exam-taking strategies and techniques.

Depending on the student, preparation for the SAT should begin 6 to 12 months prior to taking

the exam. Our SAT preparation begins with a full-length diagnostic SAT exam. Once we know

your particular needs we will give you a customised lesson plan and regular practice exams

to track progress, strengths and weaknesses. We offer an intensive 3 month accelerated SAT

preparation programme for students who are able to commit to a daily minimum of 4 hours

homework and practice exams.

SAT preparation will involve meetings between students and their tutors, homework and monthly

practice exams. In the final month of preparation (and for students on an accelerated schedule) we

will increase the number and frequency of practice exams. These practice exams are invaluable

for assessing progress and needs as well as for acclimating students to the exam.

The SAT takes 4 hours, which includes three five minute breaks. Each of the three scored parts of

the SAT have a minimum score of 200 and a maximum score of 800. The final score range is 600

- 2400. There are four sections to the exam: Critical Reading, Maths, Writing and Unscored.

Critical Reading (Verbal): Sentence Completion, Reading Comprehension (long passage),

Reading Comprehension (short passage).

Maths (Quantitative): Algebra and Functions, Geometry, Statistics, Probability, Data

Analysis.

Writing: Sentence / Paragraph Improvement, Error Identification (diction, grammar,

sentence construction, subject-verb agreement).

Unscored: This section is assigned at random and is not identifiable from the remainder of

the exam.

SAT Subject Exam: SAT II (Subject) exams assess your ability in a specific field of your

choice. These multiple choice exams are an hour long and measure subject knowledge rather than

the analytical reasoning and quantitive abilities measured by the general SAT. Students can take

up to three SAT II exams. The most competitive schools require at least one, and some require

two. SAT II exams are taken in addition to the general SAT. We will advise you on which subject

exams you should take, and will tutor you in preparation for the exams.
